Heat Pumps In Cold And Warm Weather

Providing year-round performance for total home comfort, heat pumps are a great solution for your home comfort system. That's because they work to provide both heating and cooling. Whether it's the hottest day of the summer, or you need heat pumps in cold weather, Trane heat pumps work day in and day out to keep your family in premium comfort.

Imagine 12 months of total and complete comfort — from the hottest days to the coldest nights, it's designed to perfectly cool your home in the summer and perfectly heat it in the winter.

A Hybrid Split System combines a high efficiency electric Heat Pump with a variable speed Gas Furnace. With the flexibility of two energy sources, the system can actually optimize your utility use by switching back and forth to whichever source is most efficient for your comfort.

Even in our climate, the electric heat pump can find enough heat in the air to keep your home warm and comfortable well into fall and winter. But when there's not enough ambient and a fossil fuel becomes the most efficient option, the system will switch to either natural gas or heating oil for the toasty, cozy heat of a furnace.

When winter ends and warm temperatures return, the heat pump will reverse its operation; instead of finding heat in the air, it will pull the heat out of your home and radiate it outside. The furnace at this time will serve as a variable-speed blower to move the cooled air produced by the heat pump. This year-long efficiency is what makes a hybrid system such a smart choice.
